ELL - Elementary
Welcome to ELL

Our role in the ELL program is to provide support to students who are acquiring English as a second language.  ELLs are provided services based upon their English proficiency level in the areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking.  The English proficiency levels range from NEP (Non-English Proficient), LEP (Limited-English Proficient), and FEP (Fluent-English Proficient).  This is determined by their Colorado English Language Assessment (CELA) score, which is state mandated.  It is administered every January to ELL students (NEP & LEP only) in K-12.  The test results are then mailed to families in June.  In addition, we provide instruction and guidance in content area classes as needed.  We support students either in the classroom, or outside of the classroom in a quiet location; one on one, or in a small group setting, depending on the needs of the student.  We have over 30 different languages represented in our school district, some of which include, German, French, Arabic, Danish, Vietnamese, Tagalog and Spanish.  Our goal is to assist students in gaining knowledge and confidence in the English language to be successful in school, and ultimately, become productive members of our society.

The ELL program is here to assist students and their families, and the teachers who educate them.  Whether your child will be attending for one year, or for the remainder of their elementary school years, we want it to be a fun and happy learning experience for them.  Please do not hesitate to contact any ELL staff member with question's or concerns.  We at Bear Creek are here to promote a safe and nurturing learning environment for all ELL students.  We look forward to a great school year, and the opportunity of meeting our new and returning ELL families.
